What We Provide
Family Provides

...become a family helper and make a difference in someone's life

Our goal is to provide an array of quality, well-screened domestic help services (nannies, mothers' helpers, companions), individually matched with equally well-screened families, to provide a mutually enriching experience.

Our Requirements

We want to ensure that all of our nannies and mothers' helpers have a sincere desire to work with children. We want our companions to be compassionate to the elderly.

We require our nannies/mothers' helpers/companions submit to the following screening:

  • our detailed Application
  • face to face interview with one of our local community counselors (when possible)
  • medical information
  • 3 references- checked by our local counselor
  • criminal background check
  • DMV (driver's license) check

Responsibilities of a Nanny/Mother's Helper

Our nannies and mothers' helper's primary function is to care for, interact with, and provide a nurturing environment for children. Some light housekeeping may also be required:

  • Keeping the children's rooms neat (supervising children doing same).
  • Doing the children's laundry (family's laundry may be negotiated).
  • Simple meal preparation. Running errands (dry cleaning, light shopping).

What We Can Provide For You

Screening:

We thoroughly screen all of our families before we provide them with a Family Helper. Families complete a 3 page, in-depth application.

Educational Opportunities:

Many educational opportunities are available to you through local colleges, adult education programs, YWCAs etc. If you wish to take classes towards a college degree, or just take a class for fun, the opportunity is available to you.

On-going Support:

We want you to succeed. We provide you with opportunities to meet other helpers, as well as providing you with information about your new community and local travel. We are here for you.

What the Family Provides

Salary:

Mothers' Helpers- earn between $400-450 per week for approximately 40-45 hours of work as a live-in. Live-out mothers' helpers earn $11-$13 an hour.

Nannies- earn between $500-1000 per week for up to 60 hours a week of work as a live-in. Live-out nannies earn $13-$16 an hour.

Housekeepers- earn between $500-800 per week for up to 50 hours, depending upon duties, as a live-in. Live-out housekeepers earn $15-$20 an hour.

Doulas always live outside of the family's home. Doulas- earn between $18-25 per hour.

Baby-sitting (part-time)- $13-16 per hour, depending on number of children and duties.

Companion (part-time)- $15-16 per hour, depending on duties and hours worked. Live-in companions earn $500-$1000 per week. They may be live-in or live-out.

Airfare:

When it is necessary, airfare is negotiated between the provider and the family. However, we recommend that the nanny/mother's helper/companion pay her own airfare to the job. At the end of 60 days on the job, the employer should reimburse her. Airfare home, at the end of a completed contract (usually 1 year), is paid for by the family.

Taxes:

It is required by law that you pay Social Security and Medicare taxes. In addition, you may also be liable for federal, state and local taxes. We require our Helpers to provide us with Social Security numbers and proof of employment eligibility for working in the United States.

Working Hours:

A schedule of your working hours should be prepared in advance by your employer. The number of hours you are expected to work, along with your specific duties during those hours, should be discussed in your telephone interview, prior to being hired. It should be clear both to you and to the family as to when you are "on duty" and when you are "off duty". Paid vacations of two weeks, as well as 5 major holidays are customary.

Miscellaneous:

As a Family Helper you may desire health insurance. This is a negotiable item between you and your employer and should be discussed prior to beginning work.

Use of the employer's automobile, telephone, and television should also be discussed prior to beginning work. Visitor policy should be discussed before employment begins.

Please feel free to consult with us regarding any of these issues. We have many years of experience and would be happy to assist you.
